Meet the teacher and students!

Dave Gray graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1987. He has been a teacher at Valley for the past 13 years. Last year Dave was appointed chairman of the state industrial arts contest in Missouri. They compete in three shows each year. The Big Springs Fair the first week of April which is on a rotation basis with a dozen other schools, district contest at Poplar Bluff, Missouri which is held two weeks prior to the state contest, and the state contest held each year in Jefferson City, Missouri. To date Valley High has qualified over 40 projects for state, had a District Grand Champion, and have had a State Champion in the areas of Woodworking, General Shop, and Group Projects. Students spend anywhere from 50 to 100 hours on weekends and after school in addition to class time constructing their projects. At the end of the school year all projects are placed on display for the public along with the annual Shop Club Fish Fry.

Dave submitted a number of students building projects last year. We have included photos of a few of Dave’s students and their projects. We look forward to seeing more this year!
